Body Contouring

Laser Body Contouring

If diet and exercise haven’t given you the shape or results you want, body contouring can help you discover—and re-shape—your “beautiful”.

Today’s body contouring procedures can treat large areas and small problem areas too. Laser-assisted lipolysis melts away fat in trouble spots, like your abdomen, thighs, arms, and neck. The results last longer than other treatments and are less invasive than traditional liposuction or a more invasive procedure such as a facelift.

Laser Lipolysis for the Body and Large Areas

Liposuction introduced the world to body contouring. Now laser-assisted lipolysis takes an amazing concept and makes it even better, from complementing traditional liposuction in large areas to treating targeted trouble spots.

The Benefits of Laser Lipolysis
Laser lipolysis technology offers the versatility to match treatment offerings with patient demand for body contouring, treating cellulite or contouring the lower face and neck.

Laser liposuction may involve less pain, less bruising and swelling. In many cases, local anesthetic is used instead of general anesthesia, so you’re awake during the procedure—which means a faster, easier recovery period than with traditional liposuction.

Laser Lipolysis for Small Areas

Sometimes the small things bother you the most. Whether it’s the first signs of aging like a sagging neck and jowls,  or you just want to have a fresher and more revitalized look.

Now a minimally invasive laser procedure for the treatment of small areas such as the lower face and neck and axillary glands in the (armpit) area is available. This one-time, one-hour procedure is ideal if you want great results with the least amount of downtime.

Lower Face and Neck Revitalization

When treating the lower face and neck, laser energy is used to melt fat below the skin’s surface and also causes new collegen production by treating the subdermis.

FAQs

Laser Lipolysis FAQs

What is Smartlipo by Cynosure?
Smartlipo  is designed exclusively to perform laser-assisted lipolysis, commonly referred to as laser liposuction. A very thin tube containing the Smartlipo laser fiber is inserted in targeted fatty areas through a tiny incision. The laser fiber delivers thermal energy directly to fat cells and disrupts the fat for easy removal. The laser literally melts the fat, which is removed with gentle suction. At the same time, tissue coagulates through the laser energy that is delivered, contributing to an overall smoother shape.

How do I know if laser lipolysis is right for me?
The best candidates for laser lipolysis are women and men who are not significantly overweight but have accumulated fat deposits, such as “love handles,” flabby upper arms, excess neck or lower facial fat, or fat on the lower torso. A consultation with a Smartlipo physician can provide you with the best information.

What areas of the body can be treated?
Laser lipolysis is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, back, “love handles,” post-pregnancy skin laxity, saddlebags, knees, and enlarged male breasts.

What does the procedure feel like?
Because the area is anesthetized, there is minimal discomfort during the procedure. You may feel pressure but it is a mild sensation. Following laser lipolysis, you may experience some aches, much like after a physical workout. A compression garment may be worn for a short period after treatment, depending on the body area treated and the recommendation of your physician.

How long does the procedure take?
On average, the procedure will take 1.5–2 hours. This is dependent on the number of areas to be treated and the size of those areas.

Do I have to stay in the hospital?
Laser lipolysis is typically an in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia.

How many treatments are necessary?
For most patients, results are achieved in just one treatment. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over 3–6 months.

How long do the results last?
Laser lipolysis disrupts fat cells in the treated area. However, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen to enjoy long-lasting results.

Will there be scarring?
The incision site will be very small. With proper care, any scars will be barely noticeable. Your physician is best to evaluate your skin type and provide you information on what to expect.

What’s the recovery time?
The laser lipolysis procedure is minimally invasive procedure and usually requires only local anesthesia. Some light bruising can occur, but you’ll be able to return to normal activities within a day or two.

How much does laser lipolysis cost?
The cost depends on the size and number of areas to be treated. Ask a physician in your area for more information on what to expect.
